The Genie is run by a company called MyNet Universe who have been around since 2007, the Genie system actually integrates with EBay and Clickbank, two of the biggest retailers online. As mentioned before the Genie software is free to use and when you are shopping online it will hunt out the best deals for you and show them up in your browser.

A couple of weeks back an investigation was carried out on the Genies ‘business opportunity’ by an Irish television programme called Prime Time. As far as they are concerned the My Shopping Genie biz op is a scam, they are stating that its just a pyramid scheme with no products and people only getting paid for introducing others.

As far as the ‘product’ goes, when you pay your $199 to join the business opportunity you are paying for a license to give away free My Shopping Genie software and to enrol others into the opportunity. You also have to pay around $30 a month for the back office fees. This business was co-founded by a guy called Bruce Bise who says the whole thing is legit and legal. He himself has done time for fraud before..

When a Genie distributor signs up they will earn $100 for every 2 new licenses they sell. Of course one of the perks of this binary compensation plan is that you are being paid for bringing in others into the system, which will of course prompt some to start making ’scam’ allegations.

Of course you are then also eligible for the other income earning streams of pay-per-click (PPC), pay-per-sale (PPS), and pay-per-offer (PPO) as the users of the Genie Web Apps you gave them shop and price compare at hundreds of thousands of online stores for millions of products and special offers.

It’s pretty much a given fact that with any company, particularly a ‘home business’ type deal, there will be complaints. There are many reasons for people to complain and spread scam stories around. Some may be for genuine reasons, others maybe out of bitterness. You are always better off looking into the facts for yourself rather than taking someone else’s word for it.

The BBB (Better Business Bureau) is a good place to find out if there have been any complaints about a particular company. Doing a search on MyNet Universe, the company behind the Genie shows that they have a B+ rating which is very respectable. In the last thirty six months their records show no complaints whatsoever. The only negative event registered is a warning for some of their advertising material, which contained the word ‘free’.

It really is down to the individual and their views to decide if the Genie is a scam or not. There are some folks who just don’t agree with the idea of network marketing period. Obviously to them the Genie is not and never will be legitimate.

Whether or not the Genie is out to scam you will hinge on your own individual feelings about MLM in general. The Genie is not top of the stack for me personally, but then again I prefer network marketing companies with tangible products. We also must bear in mind the way in which it is marketed. Remember that promises of easy, fast wealth are the foundations of the stigma surrounding our industry.

The Genie certainly does seem to be a solid business opportunity with great rewards, I particularly like the earning potential from other people using the Genie as a shopping tool, some serious residual income could be built easily.
